Welcome to Somnial (“the App”), a mobile application operated by Ladder of Life Pte. Ltd. (UEN: 202550589K), a company incorporated in Singapore (“we”, “us”, “our”).

We are committed to protecting your personal data and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

By downloading, installing, or using Somnial, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

When you use Somnial, you provide us with:

Story preferences — genre/mood input, ending preference, story length selection, and language difficulty selection that you enter when crafting a story
Subscription information — if you subscribe to Somnial Premium, payment and billing information is processed by Apple Inc. through the App Store. We do not collect, store, or process your payment card details directly

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the App, we may automatically collect:

Device information — device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers
Usage data — how you interact with the App, features used, and session duration
Crash and diagnostic data — error logs and performance data to help us improve the App

2.3 Information We Do Not Collect

We want to be clear about what we do not collect:

We do not collect your name, email address, or any contact information unless you contact us directly
We do not collect precise geolocation data
We do not create user accounts or collect login credentials
We do not collect data from your device’s contacts, camera, microphone, or photo library
We do not track you across third-party apps or websites

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected for the following purposes:

3.1 To Provide the Service

To generate personalised AI stories based on your preferences
Your story preferences (genre, ending, length, difficulty) are transmitted to our secure proxy server hosted on Railway, which forwards them to Anthropic PBC’s API to generate story content
Story preferences are used solely for the purpose of generating your requested story and are not stored on our servers beyond the duration of the API call

3.2 To Improve the App

To monitor and analyse usage patterns and improve app performance
To identify and fix bugs, crashes, and technical issues

3.3 To Manage Subscriptions

To verify your subscription status and provide access to Premium features
Subscription management is handled by Apple Inc. and RevenueCat Inc. on our behalf

3.4 To Respond to Enquiries

If you contact us at ladderoflife@hotmail.com, we use your contact information solely to respond to your enquiry

4. Stories Generated and Local Storage

4.1 Story Content

Stories generated by the App are created by Anthropic PBC’s Claude AI model based on your preferences. Story content is:

Generated in real time and delivered to your device
Stored locally on your device only (in the App’s local storage) if you choose to save them using the Save feature or if they appear in your Story History
Never uploaded to or stored on our servers

4.2 Saved Stories and History

Stories you save and your story history are stored exclusively on your device using local storage
This data is not transmitted to us or any third party
If you delete the App, all locally stored stories will be permanently deleted

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services in the operation of Somnial:

5.1 Anthropic PBC

Your story preferences are transmitted to Anthropic PBC’s API to generate story content. Anthropic processes this data in accordance with their own Privacy Policy, available at https://www.anthropic.com/privacy. We transmit only the story parameters you provide (genre, ending, length, difficulty) and no personally identifiable information.

5.2 Railway (Render Network Inc.)

Our proxy server is hosted on Railway’s infrastructure. Story generation requests pass through this server. Railway’s Privacy Policy is available at https://railway.app/legal/privacy.

5.3 RevenueCat Inc.

Subscription management and in-app purchase processing is handled by RevenueCat. RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy is available at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.

5.4 Apple Inc.

The App is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple processes certain data in accordance with their Privacy Policy, available at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy.

6. Content Filtering

Somnial includes a server-side content filter that screens story requests for inappropriate, harmful, or explicit content. If your story request is flagged by this filter, it will be declined and no story will be generated. Flagged requests are logged for security and abuse prevention purposes. These logs may contain the text of your genre input but do not contain any personally identifiable information.

7. Data Retention

Story preferences submitted for generation are not retained on our servers beyond the duration of the API call
Crash and diagnostic logs are retained for up to 90 days
Content filter logs are retained for up to 30 days for security purposes
Locally stored data (saved stories, history) remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App

8. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including:

All data transmitted between the App and our proxy server uses HTTPS encryption
Your Anthropic API key is stored exclusively on our secure server and is never transmitted to or stored on your device
We do not store personally identifiable information on our servers

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children’s Privacy

Somnial includes a “Little Ones” story difficulty designed for children aged 3–5 years old, intended to be used by parents reading to their children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The App does not require account creation and does not collect personally identifiable information from any user, including children.

10. Your Rights Under Singapore Law

Under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) of Singapore, you have the right to:

Access your personal data held by us
Correct any inaccurate personal data we hold about you
Withdraw consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal data at any time (subject to legal or contractual restrictions)

As we collect minimal personal data, these rights are largely exercised by simply uninstalling the App, which removes all locally stored data from your device.

11. International Data Transfers

Your story preferences may be processed by Anthropic PBC’s servers located in the United States of America. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your data to countries outside Singapore, which may have different data protection laws. We ensure that such transfers are conducted in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
